HAPPY EASTER!

Today was a pretty good day. I had some really good intentions for the day but was unable to follow through. Maybe it's the weather or the fact that Easter was so early this year but I had a really hard time feeling like it was Easter. There's a bunch of snow on the ground, not very spring-like. The eggs didn't get colored but we did have plenty of plastic eggs filled with candy for Jack to find - he definitely got his mom's sweet tooth. We had dinner with some friends from the ward - the Dockters, Millers, Osborns, Curtis' and the Sister missionaries. It was a lot of fun to talk with everyone and eat a lot of really good food. Jack loves going to Sam's house to play. Thanks Sam for being Jack's little buddy and sharing your toys.

How cute are they? I know that I am their mom but I do think that Jack and Macie get cuter and cuter every day.

Can You Say Chubbs!

Macie had her 2 month check up today. She is weighing in at 13lbs 8oz!!! She is in the 97th percentile for both weight and length. It's a good thing that I'm so strong because her carrier is getting quite heavy. It's amazing what carrying Jack and Macie at the same time has done for my biceps. Unfortunately Macie had to get shots today - 3 of them. I hate shots! It's so sad, she just looked at me like why are you letting them do this to me. I'm sure her little chubby legs have been hurting all day. I can't believe that it has been 2 months with Macie. I kind of feel like I missed the whole newborn phase with her because she has gotten so big so fast. Not that I'm complaining because it's quite nice when she sleeps through the night - which she has done many times already. I've been looking at the pictures that we took of her at the hospital and it's amazing how different she looks. Her eyes have definitely turned brown. Ryan is already planning on threatening the boys that she dates that she has her Dad's eyes and that each time they look into her eyes they will remember who they have to answer to. Poor Macie!

HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY!
Not only is today a celebration of the Irish heritage that we are so proud of, it is also marks 2 months for Macie! She has been so much fun lately. She is smiling and talking so much now. She is getting cuter and chubbier every day! I can't believe how chubby she is. Jack was such a little thing so it's such new experience to have a chubby baby--I love it! Speaking of Jack we have been putting him to work lately. He has picked up some new talents. Ryan has been gone a lot lately and I have wanted to get a picture of my new hair style to post as an update so I have been working with Jack on is photography skills. What do you think? He took this picture of Macie and me and only cut off part of my head. He actually got a few pics with my entire head in the picture but I think Macie looks absolutely adorable in this pic.

Another skill that Jack has picked up is vacuuming. He used to be terrified of the vacuum but as you can see he has grown out of that fear.

He has become very helpful around the house always wanting to "help Mom" with just about everything from the dishes to giving Macie her pacifier. He is so cute with Macie most the time. We just need to watch him closely because sometimes he loves her a little too much.

We would also like to thank Papa for encouraging Jack to participate in wholesome activities like throwing snowballs at people and blowing the wrapper off his straw at the restaurant. Thanks!

HELP ME

Today marks 8 weeks since Macie was born. I feel like I need a new look, time for a makeover. I have a hair appointment on Saturday and I am trying to decide what to do. Do I chop it and go short or do I continue to try and see how long it will grow? I am open to any suggestions anyone may have. Not only do I need a new hair style but I feel that I need a new wardrobe. Too bad I don't have the money to throw out all of my old clothes and fill my closet with spanking new stuff - maybe one day. I decided that it was time for me to return to walking group today - I am totally out of shape! It did feel good to get out and get some exercise. I think that Jack actually got as much exercise as I did. That kid kept up with me pretty good. That doesn't say much for how fast I was walking.

(Yes that is inside the mall. Once again can't wait for spring!!)
I also want to note that 6 years ago today Ryan proposed!! I wanted to add a picture from this day but that was before we owned a digital camera. It has bee a great 6 years filled with some pretty big events - college graduation, heart surgery, a move across the country and the addition of 2 beautiful children. Life is good!

Cabin Fever

Today I realized how much I'm looking forward to warmer weather when we can go to the park or the zoo or just be outside. I don't know about anyone else, but I am ready for some Spring weather. And temperatures just above freezing in the middle of March is not cutting it. Since we're stuck inside so often, Jack has had to find ways to get his exercise. He has so much energy, and Ryan and I just stare at each other and wonder where he gets it all. Jack has become quite creative. Our couch is no longer just a soft cushion for our back ends. It is also a wonderful trampoline, and it can quickly be turned into an effective fort (which Jack calls a house - sad it's the first house he's lived in). Speaking of houses, Ryan has gotten a little ahead of himself as he has recently been looking at some homes online. We're at least a year and a half away from gettting a house, but I guess it can't come soon enough. And I guess it doesn't hurt to dream a little. Here's hoping for Spring soon!

Macie's Blessing

We figured we would finally join the blogging world now that we have child #2. Today we blessed our sweet baby girl and were lucky to have our parents here to be a part of this special day. Ryan gave a beautiful blessing and Macie only squawked twice thanks to Papa's quick hands with the pacifier and Grandpa Slater's gentle bouncing. Jack is getting used to sharing the spotlight with Macie and he really liked her pretty white dress. We want to thank Mimi for the beautiful dress and Grammie for all the time spent on the beautiful blanket!! We will miss having Mimi & Papa and Grammie & Grandpa here. Thanks for the visit!

We are excited to start blogging to keep everyone updated on our family. We hope we will get as good at it as our friends and family.
